This simple adapter allows the use of M42 thread lenses on your Sony-A mount (Minolta-AF) camera. 

M42-MAF adapter is designed for Screw Mount M42 Lens to Minolta-AF (Sony-A) Camera Body. With this adapter ring, although the lens will fit phsically, automatic diaphragm, auto-focusing, or any other function will not work. You can shoot with manual mode with Sony Camera.

It is an accessory that adapts the mounts from a mechanical point of view. Any automatic feature that requires an electronic connection between the lens and the body is not possible.  There are still many good quality M42 thread lenses and brand devices that deserve to be used with Sony / Minolta cameras.
